JSPL Foundation serves 50000 free plus meals to Devotees during Puri Rath Yatra

 

Bhubaneswar / Puri, 24/7(ONS) : JSPL Foundation, the CSR arm of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL), served fresh cooked pure veg meals, without onion and garlic to more than 50000 devotees during the Rath Yatra at Puri. The free food service was provided at a special camp, organised in coordination with the district administration, near Puri Railway Station.

Like previous years, the distribution of staple food was started on Netrotsav Evening on 13th July 2018 and continued till late evening of Rath Yatra on 14th July 2018. In the second phase, the service was continued on Bahuda Yatra (return car festival) and Sunabesha (Lord on Gold Attire) days. Devotees were served rice, dalma (medley of lentil and vegetables) and khatta (condiment made from raw mangoes).

Besides, the Foundation, in coordination with the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWSS), Puri, distributed 7000 packets of Glucose powder among devotees at Badadanda during Rath Yatra.

Lakhs of devotees availed the facility of cold drinking water from a refrigerated mobile drinking water tanker of 1000 litre capacity engaged by the Foundation throughout 10 days of Rath Yatra at Puri. Charged multiple times, the vehicle provided average 5000 litres of chilled drinking water every day during the festival.

The service was provided under the umbrella guidance of Smt. Shallu Jindal, Co-Chairperson of JSPL Foundation said. “We are grateful to Lord Jagannath for the opportunity to serve the devotees. God is the doer, we are only the medium,” she said.

Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman of JSPL, while tweeting his greetings for the Countrymen especially to the People of Odisha for the Rathyatra 2018 highly appreciated the free food, drinking water and glucose distribution service rendered by JSPL Foundation at Puri Rath Yatra consecutively for the 4th year.

A team of 40 volunteers were engaged to extend the services to the devotees. People from all walks of life availed the services and expressed their satisfaction over the quality of food, hygiene and sanitation, ambience and the discipline.

JSPL Foundation, besides providing free food and drinking water service to devotees during the Puri Rath Yatra for consecutive year, has conferred the Rashtriya Swayam Siddha Samman upon the Rath Shilpis (the makers of the Chariot) who are making the three completely new Chariots in just 59 days every year.  The Foundation has been providing Social Security Support to these Rath Shilpis.
