IMFA increases its Solar Power capacity to 4.5 MW at Therubali

Bhubaneswar, (INS) : Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) commissioned an additional 1.5 MW Solar power plant at its Therubali plant in Rayagada district today,which is inaugurated by Mr Ashok Kumar Behera,Vice President ,Corporate Affairs & Legal, IMFA in presence of GM, OPTCL and othersenior/officials/from/Wesco and CEI.

With the installation of this additional 1.5 MW Solar Power Plant, IMFA’s total solar power generation capacity has now increased to 4.5 MW, which will help in reducing CO2 emission by about 4500 tonnes per/annum. Earlier, the company had installed its first solar power plant of 3MW at its Therubali plant site on 21st June 2017 as an initiative towards reducing carbon footprint.  Speaking on the occasion, Mr Behera expressed happiness, calling it as another milestone for IMFA. The entire 4.5 MW solar plant is spread over an area of about 21 acres of land, set up at a cost of Rs 27 crore, the initiative is aimed at addressing REC compliance & the company`s/captive/use.

The company’s operations are benchmarked to global standards through an ‘Integrated Management System’ comprising of quality, environment and occupational health & safety certification.To highlight some of these initiatives at Therubali; we have  two water harvesting structures of capacity 1,13,766.97 Cubic meter and 1,18,099.50 Cubic meter  respectively to conserve rain water and use it on various plant activities such as road sprinkling ,plantation, &  dust suppression etc. Recently, we have constructed two impervious ponds separated by a partition wall having capacity of 2,000 cubic meter each to collect surface run off water with drainage network covering the entire plant area.
