IMFA Mines bag 1st Prize in Under Ground mining at the MEMC Week Celebration
Bhubaneswar, (INS) : Sukinda Mines (Chromite) and Mahagiri Mines (Chromite) of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) received major awards at the concluding day ceremony of the 22nd Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation (MEMC) Week held at Bhubaneswar . The MEMC week was organised under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM), Bhubaneswar Region.
Mahagiri Mines bagged the 1st prize in Under Ground mining overall performance category. Sukinda Mines bagged the 1st prize for Afforestation, and the 3rd prize for reclamation and rehabilitation. The awards were received by Mr. Lalatendu Mahapatra, GM (Mines) for Mahagiri Mines and Mr. Manoj Samal, Sr. Manager (Mines) for Sukinda Mines in the presence of other team members. Besides, Mr. Bulu Mohanty of Mahagiri Mines got the 1st Prize for best Odia slogan on environment.
The Chief Guest in this event Shri R. K. Sharma, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Dept. of Steel & Mines, GoO gave away the prizes in the presence of other dignitaries like Shri Deepak Mohanty, Director of Mines, GoO, Shri Debidutta Biswal, IFS, Member Secretary, SPCB, Odisha; and Shri Pankaj Kulshrestha, Controller of Mines (NZ), IBM. The function was convened by Shri Harkesh Meena, Regional Controller of Mines, IBM, Bhubaneswar and around 85 mines from the region participated in this conservation week celebration.
