IMFA mines bags 1st prize in Systematic & Scientific Mining at MEMC Celebration week

Bhubaneswar, (INS) : Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys (IMFA)’s Sukinda & Mahagiri mines  received top honours at the 21st Mines Environment & Mineral Conservation  (MEMC) week celebration held in Bhubaneswar on 19th July 2019. Sukinda Mines Chromite (SMC) bagged 1st prize for Systematic & Scientific Mining and 3rd prize for Publicity & Propaganda category. Similarly IMFA’s Mahagiri Mines Chromite (MMC) bagged 1st prize for Underground Mining and Overall Performance category. Besides these above awards, Best Paryavaran Bandhu Award was conferred upon Mr. Sudhanshu Patni, Deputy Head, Mining Business Unit.

The concluding day of MEMC week celebration was graced by Dr. K Rajeswar Rao, IAS, Additional secretary to Govt of India and Controller General (I/C), Indian Bureau of Mines. About 78 mines participated in the conservation week celebration.

The MEMC Week celebration is organised every year under the aegis of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM). The main objective of the event is to create awareness towards conserving mineral resources, and protecting environment in and around the mines.
